GENTLE JOURNEY / PRIVACY

Your journeys.
Your information.

Effective date: 17 October 2026.

Who is responsible

Gentle Journey is operated by MAROSCH UG (haftungsbeschränkt), which is responsible for the processing described in this policy. This policy covers the app and its product, privacy and legal pages on marosch-labs.com.

Postal address: Ulmenstraße 42, 22299 Hamburg, Germany.

For privacy questions and requests, contact ronny@maroschstudio.de.

Apple separately operates the App Store, purchase services and iCloud. See Apple's Privacy Policy for Apple's handling of information through those services.

Your journeys and personal content

Gentle Journey stores the content you choose to enter: journey titles and intentions, waypoints, steps, notes, check-ins and reflections. Records also include dates, progress, reminder choices and identifiers that connect your entries. Your chosen display name, avatar and app preferences are stored locally.

You do not need to create a separate Gentle Journey account. The app does not ask for your email address to use journeys. It does not include advertising, an advertising identifier integration or an app analytics service. We do not sell your information or use your journey content for advertising.

Storage and iCloud

Your journey records are stored on your device. The production app is configured to synchronize journey records through Apple's CloudKit using your personal iCloud account when iCloud is available. Synchronization depends on your Apple account, settings, connectivity and Apple's services. Some preferences, including your display name, avatar and free-journey selection, are device-local rather than synchronized journey records.

The app does not send your journey content to a server operated by us. We do not have an app feature that lets us browse your private journeys remotely. If you choose to send us a message, screenshot or diagnostic information, we can see what you include in that message.

Device security, iCloud storage and backups are also governed by your Apple settings. We do not promise that every copy is end-to-end encrypted, that Apple cannot access it, or that data is stored in a particular country.

Reminders and widgets

If you enable reminders, the app schedules local notifications on your device. Some notifications contain journey or step titles. Your device's notification-preview settings determine what can appear on the Lock Screen.

If you use a widget, the app shares a local snapshot with its own widget extension. That snapshot can include journey and step titles, step notes, waypoint titles and progress. It is stored in an App Group on your device. Information may be visible wherever you place the widget. Remove the widget or change your device settings if you do not want it displayed there.

Suggestions on supported devices

On compatible devices, Gentle Journey uses Apple's on-device language model to suggest waypoint and step titles. This can process your journey title, intention and existing waypoint or step titles. Ideas can also be prepared while the journey-planning screen is open.

This implementation does not send those prompts to an external AI provider or our servers. Availability depends on your device, system language and Apple Intelligence settings. Generated suggestions are optional and you can edit or ignore them. The app does not use your content to train a model operated by us.

Subscriptions and payments

Apple processes subscription purchases and payment details. Gentle Journey uses Apple's StoreKit to check products, purchases, renewals, expiry, refunds and billing-grace status, and to restore access. The app processes product identifiers, transaction identifiers, relevant dates, subscription status and storefront information for this purpose. We do not receive your card number or bank-account details through the app.

The app stores a local record of which journeys can remain active under the free allowance, together with identifiers needed to apply a subscription transition and recover an interrupted selection. These restrictions are not written into synchronized journey status. A subscription ending does not automatically remove your journeys or notes.

Manage subscription renewal through your Apple account. Removing app data or uninstalling Gentle Journey does not cancel an Apple subscription.

Diagnostics

The app writes technical operating-system logs, such as errors and timing information, to help diagnose problems. There is no app-integrated remote analytics or crash-reporting upload service. Apple may process or provide diagnostics under your Apple sharing settings and Apple's own policies. We receive Apple's standard app reports, which can include usage summaries and crash or performance information. We use these reports to understand app usage and improve reliability, without linking them to your identity or using them for tracking.

Support messages

If you email us, we receive your address, message, attachments and delivery information. We use them to answer your question and investigate the issue you report. Share only what is needed; include personal notes or screenshots only if you want them reviewed. The support email links on these pages do not automatically attach your journeys or diagnostics.

The contact mailbox is hosted by Zoho Mail, with the domain routed to its EU mail service, and managed using Spark Mail, provided by Spark Mail Limited in Ireland. Zoho hosts the correspondence; Spark processes messages, attachments and related metadata to provide its mail features. Spark can also process mail on its servers depending on the features used. EU mail routing does not mean every provider operation remains in the EU.

Spark offers optional AI functions that can involve external model providers. Its app privacy notice explains that processing. This is separate from Gentle Journey's on-device suggestions: information you choose to send for support is no longer confined to your private journey storage. See also Zoho's Privacy Policy.

Support about providing the app relies on Article 6(1)(b) GDPR where applicable. Other correspondence relies on Article 6(1)(f), with the legitimate interest of answering inquiries and resolving problems. Providing a message is voluntary, but without a return address or enough detail we may be unable to help.

These website pages

The Gentle Journey pages on marosch-labs.com are hosted by Vercel, Inc. Serving and protecting them involves request data such as IP address, requested URL, time, browser information and security logs. This supports delivery, availability and protection against misuse; the legal basis, where applicable, is Article 6(1)(f) GDPR and our interest in a reliable, secure website.

These pages use local fonts and assets, without publisher-added analytics, advertising scripts, forms or nonessential cookies. Vercel's service can retain request and security data for its operational, contractual and legal needs; its retention criteria are described in the Vercel Privacy Notice. We do not promise a fixed expiry for every hosting log. Following an external link, including the App Store or Apple terms, opens a separate service with its own privacy information.

Recipients and international processing

Apple provides the platform services described above. Zoho and Spark handle support mail; Vercel handles delivery of these web pages. Information can also be disclosed where required by law or needed for legal claims. We do not give these support or hosting providers routine access to your private journey database.

Support and hosting services may involve subprocessors or access outside the European Economic Area, including the United States. Provider notices and applicable data-processing terms describe their locations and transfer safeguards, which can include adequacy arrangements or standard contractual clauses. An EU mailbox endpoint alone is not a guarantee of EU-only processing. You can contact us for information about the safeguards applicable to a particular processing activity.

Provider information: Zoho privacy and processing information, Spark's Data Processing Addendum, and Vercel's Data Processing Addendum. These links describe provider terms; they are not a statement that every published template applies automatically to every account or plan.

Why information is used

Information is used to provide the features you request: saving and displaying journeys, synchronizing supported records, generating local suggestions, showing reminders and widgets, and providing the correct subscription access.

Where the GDPR applies, the legal basis for processing necessary to provide requested services is performance of the service contract, Article 6(1)(b). Necessary support and technical-security handling may rely on legitimate interests in answering requests and maintaining a reliable service, Article 6(1)(f). Processing required by applicable law relies on Article 6(1)(c). These grounds do not authorize unrelated uses of your journal content. Apple permissions and settings control optional device features; a system permission alone is not a blanket consent to other processing.

We do not use your content for advertising profiles or decisions that have legal or similarly significant effects on you. Local title suggestions and the published free-journey rules are app features, not assessments of you.

Keeping, changing and removing information

Your journey records remain available until you remove them or remove the relevant app data. Moving a journey to Past Journeys keeps it; it does not erase it. In a Past Journey, the removal choices allow you to let go of the journey and its linked reflections, or remove the journey while keeping reflections. Reflections retained through that choice remain separately available.

Changes and removals may synchronize through iCloud when synchronization is working. Uninstalling the app does not guarantee removal of iCloud copies or device backups. Use your device's iCloud storage and backup controls to manage those copies. We cannot promise immediate erasure from Apple-managed backups or operate those controls for you.

Local preferences and access-selection records remain while the app retains its local data. Apple's transaction and financial records follow Apple's retention practices.

Support correspondence is kept while needed to answer the request and necessary follow-up, and longer where an applicable legal obligation or a legal claim requires it. This is based on the purpose of each record, rather than a blanket deletion date. Copies held by mail providers, feature-specific storage and backups follow their applicable processing terms and deletion processes; deleting a message from the active mailbox does not promise immediate removal from every backup.

The current app does not offer a general-purpose export of all journal data. You can read and edit your entries in the app. Contact the operator for assistance with applicable rights; the operator cannot retrieve private records that it does not hold.

Your rights

Depending on the law that applies to you, you may have rights to access, correct, erase, restrict or receive a portable copy of personal information held about you, and to object to processing based on legitimate interests. Where processing relies on consent, you may withdraw that consent without changing the lawfulness of earlier processing. Rights are subject to applicable conditions and exceptions.

Contact the operator using the privacy contact above. The operator may need proportionate information to verify a request. You can also complain to a data-protection supervisory authority, including one where you live, work or believe a breach occurred, or the Hamburg Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information. For information Apple holds as the provider of its services, use Apple's privacy tools.

Changes to this policy

When the app's data handling changes, this policy and its effective date will be updated. Material new uses of personal information will be explained before they begin, with any additional choices required by law.
